UCU School of Medicine (UCUSoM)The UCU School of Medicine since its inception has and continues to provide career pathways to the Medical profession through training Medical professionals with christian values.

The school offers courses in the following disciplines; Public health, Medicine, Dentistry and Health administration.

The school is headed by the Dean, Dr. Kanyesigye Edward along with Heads of Departments.

History & Mission
Uganda Christian University which began as Bishop Tucker Theological College in 1913, was converted into a University in 1997, by the Church of Uganda and in 2004 it became the first Private University to receive a Charter by the Government of Uganda. The University currently has seven academic faculties: Theology and Divinity, Social Sciences, Education and Arts, Business and Administration, Law, Science and Technology and Health Sciences.

The Faculty of Health Sciences gave birth to the UCU School of Medicine Medical also runs programs in Nursing Sciences both at Bachelor and Master Degree levels, a Bachelor of Community Health program, a Master of Public Health program and a tailor-made Master of Public Health Leadership (Save the Mothers) Program.

The proposed Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (MBChB) is offered at an off-shore campus to be located at Mengo Hospital. Mengo Hospital therefore is the Teaching Hospital as required in the training of Medical Officers. Mengo Hospital is a top-notch Anglican – founded Health facility owned by the Province of the Church of Uganda. Mengo Hospital is a pioneer scientific medical training facility in Uganda, having been established in 1897. The health complex is a well – stocked facility with a 350-bed capacity and offering generalized and highly specialized medical care in Uganda. The Hospital also has a reputable history of offering recognizable internship training for qualifying Medical doctors, Dental surgeons, Pharmacists and Nurses.

The Uganda Christian University School of Medicine, also UCUSoM is located on Namirembe hill (formerly Planning and Development Rehab Department offices of Church of Uganda) and at Kathyrn block in Mengo Hospital. Mengo Hospital therefore is the Teaching Hospital as required in the training of Medical Officers. The Hospital also has a reputable history of offering recognizable internship training for qualifying Medical doctors, Dental surgeons, Pharmacists and Nurses.

The School was accredited on 20
th February 2018, Opened 20th August 2018 and launched on 24th September 2018. Its’ Mission is to Equip students for productive, holistic lives of Christian faith and service. The School therefore seeks to produce a Competent, Compassionate, conscientious and a collaborative Doctor.
